This book by Jardetzky is devoted to the issues of the theory of figures of equilibrium and the deformation of rotating fluid masses. The first six chapters summarize classical results which traditionally represent the starting point for the study of figures of equilibrium. In addition, a detailed consideration covers the methods of Poincare, Liapunov, Lichtenstein, and Wavre. The second part examines other problems which, as a rule, are paid too little attention to.
